Tess loves Nick but he's too conservative to keep her interested… until she decides to loosen him up a little.
Writing Note: This started out as a rewrite of a book I loved called The Cinderella Deal. Eventually it took on a life of its own and became a different book entirely. I later rewrote The Cinderella Deal for Bantam, and some people have noticed similarities--the heroines just have the same penchant for thrift store clothes, and the heroes are neat-freak professionals--but they're really different books because the plots, settings, and themes are so different. Although, now that I come to think of it, the heroines do have the same cat.
Animal Note: My black cat, Liz, is Angela. I can't tell you much about her because she rarely has much to do with me unless food is involved. She does like to sneak into my bedroom after I've gone to sleep and stretch out on my bedside table, scaring me into fits when I wake up in the middle of the night to see two glowing green eyes next to my alarm clock. She also has an enormous butt which sways majestically when she goes down stairs.
Character Note: Nick and Tess show up again in What The Lady Wants when Mae needs the best lawyer in town.
